Q. What is ViewChoir?
A. ViewChoir is a read-only version of ConceptChoir (it contains everything ConceptChoir has, except editing functions). ViewChoir enables the thesaurus you create using ConceptChoir or other thesaurus building tools to be available for anyone to browse and navigate on the Internet. You can also use ViewChoir as a thesaurus-aided search-filtering tool on the Internet to significantly improve both recall and precision of your Internet searches using popular search engines. In addition, it enables collaborative thesaurus building with candidate term submissions by end-users.
Q. What is required to run ViewChoir?
A. ViewChoir requires only a Web server and a browser. Since it is completely based on XML, it doesn't even require a DBMS to store your thesaurus data. It is truly open, allowing the use of any operating system, any Web server, and any client.

Q. Does ViewChoir support multiple thesauri?
A. Yes, you can incorporate as many thesauri as you desire into ViewChoir for browsing and searching.
Q. Can I use ViewChoir without ConceptChoir?
A. Yes, but you will need ConceptChoir or TranChoir to produce XML documents that are designed and optimized for ViewChoir, LinkChoir, and SeekChoir.
Q. If I update my thesaurus using ConceptChoir, how difficult is it to post my new, revised thesaurus via ViewChoir?
A. You just need to use ConceptChoir or TranChoir to generate XML documents again and replace the previous version.

Q. Do users have to install ViewChoir on their local machines in order to use it?
A. No, users just need to have an Internet browser such as IE or Netscape on their local machines. Since ViewChoir is developed using JAVA, users need to install JAVA Plug-in which is available free of charge from Sun Website.
Q. Can collaborative editors submit candidate terms directly via ViewChoir?
A. Yes, collaborative editors can easily submit a candidate term via ViewChoir by simply adding it to an existing descriptor as its broader term. The new candidate term can then be imported into ConceptChoir for editors to view and edit.
Q. Does ConceptChoir provide any means to publish and distribute my thesaurus?
A.
ConceptChoir let you publish and distribute you thesaurus in many ways. First, you can simply produce an alphabetical report in HTML and publish it on the Web. Second, you can generate a complete navigable Website from your thesaurus and make it available on the Web. Third, you can export your thesauri into XML documents for ViewChoir, LinkChoir, and SeekChoir, and use these related products to browse and navigate your thesauri on the Web, and to index and search your databases using your thesauri.
