To run MetaSearcher, you must have certain hardware and software installed on your computer.  The system requirements for the server include:

Windows

• Microsoft Windows NT/2000 Server

• Pentium (Pentium 4 recommended)

• 256 MB of RAM minimum (512 MB recommended)

• 500 MB of free disk space without data; allocate space for your data accordingly

• A CD-ROM disc drive

• VGA or higher-resolution screen supported by Microsoft Windows

• A mouse or other suitable pointing device

• Any Web server for Windows that supports J2EE such as Tomcat and Web Logic

• DBMS: Oracle, Sybase, SQL-Server, DB2, and MySQL

UNIX

• System requirements will vary between supported UNIX platforms.  For Intel-based UNIX platforms, a Pentium processor is the minimum recommendation.

• 256 MB of RAM minimum (512 MB recommended)

• 500 MB of free disk space without data; allocate space for your data accordingly

• A CD-ROM disc drive

• VGA or higher-resolution screen

• A mouse or other suitable pointing device

• Any Web server for UNIX that supports J2EE such as Tomcat and Web Logic

• DBMS: Oracle, Sybase, DB2, and MySQL

The system requirements for the client include:

Windows

• Microsoft Windows XP, 2000 Professional, and 98

• Pentium (Pentium 4 recommended)

• 256 MB of RAM minimum (512 MB recommended) for MetaIndexer

• 128 MB of RAM minimum (256 MB recommended) for MetaSearcher

• 500 MB of free disk space

• A CD-ROM disc drive

• VGA or higher-resolution screen supported by Microsoft Windows

• A mouse or other suitable pointing device

• MS Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher

Macintosh

• Equivalent hardware requirements for Windows client

• MS Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
